My grandmother Manda was my very best friend in the world. I had slumber parties at her house most weekends of my childhood and we had a phone date literally every other day of my life, up until my stroke when I was 26. My dear Manda was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years later and our bittersweet, years-long goodbye began. Aging is a privilege and I’m determined to treat it like the gift it is.
