In 2022, over 190 countries committed to protecting 30% of their lands and ocean by 2030, often referred to as "30x30." As of recently, less than 20 countries have designated 30% of their waters as protected areas, including Palau (which has protected 99%), Panama (54%), and New Zealand (49%), all of which are part of our global Hope Spot network!
