We’re less than 2 weeks out from the big day!! I had never really planned to run a marathon, and in fact I was pretty opposed to it when people would ask during my elite career 😬 When @wear_hettas reached out to me about doing the marathon, I was surprised to feel a pull towards saying yes. I’d had some much needed time away from structured training, and I actually felt excited at the thought of training for something again. I also loved that this marathon opportunity would be as a charity runner for @trackgirlz. I get to do this for more than just myself, and that feels even more meaningful to me. As someone who has been a part of women’s sports my whole life, and supports girls and women in sport everyday in my job, I know just how powerful a resource like TrackGirlz can be. What better reason to run my first marathon than to help support this incredible nonprofit making a difference in women’s sports! The last 12 ish weeks have had ups and downs, but I have an even deeper respect for marathoners and can’t wait to call myself one in just under 2 weeks.
