From a happy accident to a 12 year-old restaurant, welcome to Honey Butter Fried Chicken, located in Chicago, Illinois! The lore: during their weekly dinner service, Sunday Dinner Club, a piece of fried chicken mysteriously ends up with honey butter on it. The entire kitchen team eats it. Audible swooning. Within moments, chefs/co-owners Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp run into the dining room to tell their guests: “Put the butter on the bird!” In 2013, HBFC opened their doors in the Avondale neighborhood. Since then, HBFC has offered a variety of comfort foods, using only antibiotic-free, cage-free and humanely-raised chicken, and source ingredients and produce from local Midwest farms, and work to create a nurturing and supportive workplace for their team. From fried chicken sandwiches to pimento mac and cheese, and a variety of vegetarian and kid friendly offerings, there is something for everyone at HBFC!
