From a work in progress, to a work of art. A special look into the process of carving a Hopi Kachina. This is an intricately hand-carved and painted Hopi Broadface Whipper Kachina (Wuyak-Kuita) with three Mudheads (Koyemsi) at the base. This animated Kachina was carved entirely from one piece of Cottonwood root, except for the yucca whips and a few feathers. It is another masterpiece carving by D’Armon Kootswatewa.
