Even though we say the Mammoth Belt Squat is a great tool for squatting, it really isn’t meant to fully replace back squats. Let’s go over this. Back squats are king. We’re pretty sure you can all agree with that. HOWEVER…you can’t do JUST back squats. Well, you can. It just wouldn’t be smart. Your lower back is going to experience fatigue at some point, but this is where a belt squat can help. By eliminating axial loading, you’re able to push your legs even further without adding fatigue to your lower back. Now if you can’t back squat due to injury or mobility limitations, any belt squat is a great temporary alternative to back squats. Are you already doing belt squats in your training?
