The course is designed to prepare reconnaissance Marines for the challenges of diving in a combat environment. Course Objectives and Training: * Basic and Advanced Diving Skills:
The course covers a wide range of diving techniques, including open circuit SCUBA employment, closed circuit UBA (Underwater Breathing Apparatus) employment, and lock-out truck familiarization. 

* Physical and Mental Endurance:
Marines face tough physical challenges, including swimming, treading water with weights, and underwater maneuvers. They also undergo mental conditioning to cope with stress and fear. 
 * Diving Physics and Medicine:
Students learn about diving physics, the effects of pressure and temperature on the body, and how to recognize and treat diving-related injuries. 

* Combatant Dive Operations:
The course includes practical application of diving skills in various scenarios, such as underwater searches, navigation, and breaching. 

* Classroom Instruction:
The MCDC combines lecture, demonstration, and practical application to provide a comprehensive training experience. 

* Performance Examinations:
Students are assessed through practical examinations and performance-based tests to ensure they have mastered the skills required for combatant diving.
