All my people are back on the boat—our favorite place to be as a family … especially mine. 🥹 No other distractions, a baby on my lap, big kids having the time of their life, and captain of the boat. This summer has thrown us for a loop between some big decisions we are making, sports camps, friend parties, church camps, and too many golf trips. 🫢 We’ve felt our kiddos slowly creeping out from under our wings. And I’ll be honest—this season used to terrify me. Give me a big ol’ pit in my stomach. Sometimes it still does. But watching them grow into who they’re becoming, while still having a little one to snuggle… feels like the sweetest spot to be in. The answered prayer. The best of both. So if you’re in that in-between space, just know—it’s stretching you for some of the sweetest days ahead. Slow down and soak it in. I’m sure there’s a future version of all of us who would give anything to come back to these moments we are in right now. 🥹

The way he looks at me. 🫠 The way he finds me across the room. The way he wraps his little arms around my neck and melts into me. I hope you see it in your own too. You are their whole world. You may feel replaceable in so many places—but not here. Not in our little one’s eyes. I’ve spent the last nine months watching our sweet baby grow, and every single month saying, “This has to be my favorite!” Maybe it’s because he’s our last—but holy moly, I’ve hogged the heck out of him and savored every second of it. I’ll forever be so thankful the Lord gave us the “one more” I couldn’t stop thinking about. He is literally a dream come true. Do you ever think about “one more” — maybe it should be my new life’s mission should be talking mom’s into it. 🫠

I used to look at our family selfies and think, “There’s room for one more.” Now we can barely all fit. 🥰 In my last post, I shared that I’ve been blessed to be either pregnant or nursing for the past 15 years straight. Many of you sweet moms asked what advice I’d give to a new mom— rather than advice, let me share the greatest lessons that have blessed me most, in hopes they might bless one of you too. Simplify. Slow down. Stop hurrying. Find gratitude in the most normal, unremarkable moments — because that’s where the magic lives. Patience and love grow best in a quiet, simple, uncomplicated and uncluttered life. Prioritize your marriage. I learned this the hard way. My nature was to live and breathe my children 24/7. Ry’s nature was to put us first — and I praise the Lord for his example everyday. Because when a marriage is in a good place, everything else can more easily fall into place. Don’t try to do it alone. Ask for help. Accept help. And get on your knees every single day, asking the Lord to guide your heart and your mind. This is the hardest job we’ll ever do — it was never ever meant to be done alone. Speak highly of motherhood. Words are powerful. Talk about it like it is the treasure that is it. Remember in the hard times and in the good times — everything is temporary. Don’t wish it away. Many moms would give anything to have what you hold right now. Honor it. Cherish it. Protect it. Get completely lost in it — the loving, the rocking, the giving, the becoming. Let God stretch you, change you, grow you. Surrender to this holy calling — it’s where you’ll eventually find the very best version of yourself, trust the process. But never forget to take care of yourself — you cannot pour from an empty cup. You’re kiddos don’t need a perfect mom, but they sure want a happy mom. 🫶🏻 And lastly, if you ever wonder if you are doing a good enough job just remind yourself: my kids are warm, my kids are safe, my kids are fed, and my kids are loved. Rest easy mama, you’re doing better than you think you are and you are so so very blessed. 🥹 I sure love you.

I just had a moment — one of those quiet, soul-marking ones I never want to forget. Our morning was thick with chaos… managing the house, juggling meals, chasing the clock, contemplating big decisions — all while mothering little hearts who need me every minute. I walked into my room, holding back tears I didn’t have time to process. And there he was. The sweetest gummy smile and sleepy eyes staring up at me — freshly awake from his nap. I scooped him into my arms, and he melted into my neck like he knew exactly what I needed. In that instant, his tiny body calmed every frayed nerve in mine. We snuggled into the rocker, and I nursed him as tears rolled down my cheeks… flooded with a kind of gratitude words barely touch. Then this thought came to me: It’s been 15 blessed years. Fifteen years without a “break” — either pregnant or nursing — 5,420 days of giving, growing, nourishing. And somehow, in that moment, I didn’t feel drained. I didn’t feel depleted. I felt full. Full of the quiet, holy truth that this is the greatest gift I’ve ever been given. Motherhood has been the hardest, holiest thing I’ve ever walked through. It’s stretched me beyond what I thought was possible. It’s broken me wide open. And in that undoing, as I’ve gotten lost in this role, it continues to rebuild me into someone even better. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. At this point it feels like home. This journey… it’s sacred. It’s refining. And it’s ours. A gift that many of us get to walk in — together.
