Often the most impacting life lessons are ones learned through making mistakes- finding yourself anxious or unfulfilled and then being prompted to make a mindset shift
Often the most impacting life lessons are ones learned through making mistakes- finding yourself anxious or unfulfilled and then being prompted to make a mindset shift. Each of these shifts has dramatically changed the paths I have taken and how I show up as a Christ-follower, wife, friend, mother, and business owner. 1. Busy doesn’t equal successful: I have often overcomplicated life and our homeschooling and have had busy days that felt empty. Simplifying our priorities, schedule, and school life down to what really matters brings true fulfillment and peace. 2. Forgiveness is a gift that you give yourself: Holding on to grudges and offenses used to weigh me down. I believed that if I truly forgave, the offender was “off the hook” and could hurt me again. I have learned that forgiveness is a gift that I give myself to set my own heart free. Setting boundaries isn’t the same as harboring unforgiveness. 3. Gratitude changes how you see the world: I have often focused on the negative or on what I want to achieve or be, rather than where I was in that moment. I saw it as being an “achiever”, but really it was being ungrateful and discontent. I have learned that I can go after goals while still maintaining gratitude.  4. Being vulnerable in creativity is always worth it: Pushing myself to be vulnerable and show the world my creativity, despite what others may think, has brought joy and freedom to my life and made me feel the most like myself. I used to hold back or only show up in certain ways to certain people, but when I tasted the freedom in being myself, I don’t think I can ever go back. 5. God-dreams are better than self-dreams: I never imagined I would be where I am today, homeschooling and with the growth of Treehouse Schoolhouse. I am constantly floored with the impact it has had on so many lives and homes and how deeply fulfilling it is for my own heart. I thought I wanted to be a traditional classroom teacher, but God had far better dreams for my life.  I’d love to hear from you: ✨ What’s a mindset shift that’s shaped your journey?

Raising kids like it’s the 90s might just be the most countercultural thing we can do today
Raising kids like it’s the 90s might just be the most countercultural thing we can do today. 💛✨ We’re choosing slow mornings, dirt under fingernails, bare feet, crafting at the table, and hours spent outside instead of hours spent in front of a screen. Not because we’re anti-tech, but because we believe real childhood is worth fighting for. We’re building forts, reading aloud, letting kids be kids, and spending most of our days in nature... because that’s the kind of childhood I want my kids to remember. Let’s bring back the good stuff. Let’s raise them wild, grounded, and full of wonder—like the good ol’ days, but even better. #slowchildhood #homeschoolrhythms #intentionalparenting #treehouseschoolhouse #charlottemasonirl #raiseupachild

I’m still finding myself speechless and emotional when I think about this night
I’m still finding myself speechless and emotional when I think about this night. My husband spent months planning the most perfect surprise evening for me and recruited our community to help to celebrate my 40th birthday. 🎂 Cocktail hour, private hibachi chefs, and ended the night with hours of karaoke- laughing harder than I have in years. The party was on our porch, which was a dream come true within itself. I’ve been through some tough times, but this reminded me how far we’ve come and how faithful my God is. This isn’t my typical content, but just had to share that I’m going into this new decade so grateful and surrounded by so much love. If you have friends that feel like family, hold them tight. 💕

We often treat rest, joy, and simple pleasures as something we have to earn—as if we need to check enough boxes or hold everything together first
We often treat rest, joy, and simple pleasures as something we have to earn—as if we need to check enough boxes or hold everything together first. But what if rest isn’t the prize at the end of the day… what if it’s the fuel that carries us through it? What if God actually designed us to rest?  As homeschool moms, we pour out constantly. Teaching, guiding, cooking, cleaning, comforting. But we’re not meant to run on empty. When we care for our hearts—through quiet moments, slow sips of coffee, sunshine on our faces—we’re not stepping away from our calling... we’re investing in it. This kind of living is part of the lesson. It models margin. It teaches peace. It says to our children: “You matter. I matter. We were all designed for a rhythm of rest, work, and play.” Let’s stop seeing rest as a luxury and start receiving rest as essential. ✨ #HomeschoolMomLife #RestIsHoly #SlowMotherhood #PourFromAFullCup

One of the questions I get asked the most is, “If your kids aren’t on screens, what do they do all day when their school work is done
One of the questions I get asked the most is, “If your kids aren’t on screens, what do they do all day when their school work is done?” People are especially curious about this for my older children, ages 10 and 12.  The answer? Creative free play. It doesn’t have to stop when they enter those preteen years, just because that is what we are seeing in our culture. It’s in those unstructured moments that my kids come alive—dreaming big, building wild creations, problem-solving, narrating stories through play, and simply being kids. Whether they’re digging in the dirt, crafting a masterpiece, or acting out a story, they’re learning in the most beautiful, natural way. I’m not against screens—we enjoy movie nights and use media intentionally—but I’ve found that some of the deepest learning and connection happens when screens are off and imagination is on. And yes, I let them be bored. Boredom isn’t the enemy—it’s often the beginning of creativity. If someone complains about being bored, I tell them they have the privilege to have time to find something creative to do and if they can’t think of something, I am happy to give them chores. They usually figure something out pretty quick. 😉 Comment PLAY and I will send you a link to my amazon storefront where you can shop our favorite games, toys, handcrafts and more! One of the best things we’ve done for our family bond
One of the best things we’ve done for our family bond? Camping together. There’s something about gathering around a fire, hiking long trails, and cooking meals in the woods that brings us closer like nothing else. Over the years, we’ve learned what works (and what definitely doesn’t) when it comes to camping with kids—and I’m sharing all our favorite gear and tips on the blog. If you’ve been dreaming of unplugged weekends, messy s’mores, and meaningful connection with your kids under the stars, this one’s for you. That’s about how much we care about that
That’s about how much we care about that. 😅😂 I often get asked, “What do you tell your children when they say they want to go to school?” I will be totally honest and say that it’s actually never happened. I’m not saying it couldn’t or wouldn’t- but the main heart of home education is HOME. If home is a really good place to be- a place to fully live, to thrive, to be free, to pursue interests, to connect, and a safe place for to be themselves- then why would we expect them to ask to leave? And no, I DO NOT want them to be like everyone else, actually. #homeschooling #homeschooldays #homeschoolmom

The meals take longer
The meals take longer. The flour ends up everywhere. The questions never stop.
But the memories? The connection? The life lessons?
They’re being built moment by moment in the mess, in the slowness, in the invitation to come alongside. It won’t be efficient.
It won’t always be clean.
But including them might just be the most important work of all. 🤍 Let’s keep choosing presence over perfection, even when it costs us time. Because it’s never really wasted. ✨

Let’s talk 1-on-1 dates with our children
Let’s talk 1-on-1 dates with our children. ❤️ Spending intentional quality time with each of our kids has become foundational to our heart connection and relationship with them. And no—it doesn’t have to be fancy. Sometimes it’s a trip to the grocery store or a library run. Other times it’s grabbing dessert and walking around the bookstore. The point isn’t perfection—it’s presence. As our children get older and more independent, I’ve realized that without intention, we could go days or even weeks without truly getting to their hearts. And honestly, sometimes they don’t even know what’s going on inside. So when I can steal away a few minutes alone with one of my kids, I try to start the conversation with a meaningful question or two. I usually share my answer first—it helps break down walls and invites them to open up. The goal isn’t to check a box—it’s to remind our children they are seen, known, and deeply loved. And often, one or two thoughtful questions opens the door to vulnerability and connection that lingers long after. What questions would you add to the list?

I am 40 today
I am 40 today! 🎉 It’s been a week full of reflection, gratitude, and deep awareness of how much God has walked with me through every season—motherhood, marriage, homeschooling, and personal growth. I wanted to share some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way—many of them through mistakes, hard days, and God’s grace meeting me right in the middle of it all. Here’s what I know now:
❤️ Vulnerability brings freedom
🙏 Gratitude shifts everything
🌱 Dreaming with God is always worth it
 📚 Simplicity brings peace
💛 Health matters more than hustle
🕊️ Forgiveness is a gift to yourself
🌿 Being present is the real success These are the lessons that shaped me…and they’re still shaping me every day. Maybe you’re in a season of feeling stretched thin or uncertain. I hope these words remind you that your journey is shaping you—and you’re not alone. If any of these lessons resonate, I’d love to hear which one. 💛 We’re headed to St. Augustine 🌴and the Caribbean 🚢 to celebrate and enjoy some history and culture.
