Grow Like a Pro: Tips for Backyard Gardening
You don’t need acres or a farm stand to grow like a pro… Just a backyard, a bit of grit, and a few smart techniques. I prune my cucumbers to boost airflow and push more energy into fruit production — a simple shift that seriously increases yield. And guess what? You can do the same. Here are a few more pro tips I use in my own backyard garden: 🌱 Succession plant to keep harvests rolling 🌱 Trellis vertically to save space and reduce disease 🌱 Water deeply, not daily — train those roots to grow strong 🌱 Harvest often — the more you pick, the more you get These aren’t market garden secrets… they’re smart garden habits. And they work, whether you’re feeding your family of 5 or just growing your first tomato. 🥒 Want a few more of my favorite high-yield techniques? Everyone loves to assume that I just “got lucky”…

Everyone loves to assume that I just “got lucky”… That I always know exactly what to plant and when — and that our garden magically produces food year-round. But truthfully? It took years of trial and error. I didn’t get lucky — I built a system. A system that shows you what to grow each month, when to plant it, and how to make the most of whatever space and zone you’re in. Now I’ve put it all in one place to give you the shortcut I wish I had when I started. Want to grow food year-round — no matter your zone? 🌱 Comment SEEDS and I’ll send you the link to get started this week with my Year-Round Seed Starting Guide. It’s the strategy behind our always-producing garden. #garden #backyardgarden #gardening #growyourownfood #farmtotable #organic #organicfarming #organicgardening #organicgarden #gardener #femalefarmer #humanswhogrowfood #womenwhofarm #grow #sustainable

Comment DAILY and I’ll send over my free Daily Loaf guide to help you build rhythm and confidence in your baking — whether you’re brand new or just trying to stay consistent. There’s a reason I bake sourdough every week… it slows me down, anchors our days, and fills my kitchen with the kind of peace you can taste. ✨ I do this because it reminds me that nourishment doesn’t have to come from a store shelf — it can come from flour, water, time, and love. And the best part? Anyone can learn how to do this. Sound like exactly what you need right now? I got you friend! ;) #sourdough #homemade #inthekitchen #fromscratch #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughscoring #sourdoughbread #baking #bread #homestead #homemaking #home #homebaker

If you’re new to my page, here’s what I do: I teach others how to grow, cook, and preserve their own food—without needing acres of land, a perfect kitchen, or endless hours in the day. Because living from scratch isn’t about doing more…It’s about doing what matters. ✨ If you’ve been craving a slower, more intentional rhythm—you’re in the right place. This is EXACTLY what I did to finally feel good in my body again—without another expensive supplement
This is EXACTLY what I did to finally feel good in my body again—without another expensive supplement. Here’s what changed everything: 1️⃣ I stopped outsourcing my gut health and started fermenting real food in my own kitchen.      2️⃣ I used the harvest from my garden to make nutrient-dense staples like sauerkraut, fermented garlic honey, and probiotic-rich pickles.      3️⃣ I learned that preserving food through fermentation doesn’t just extend the shelf life—it amplifies the health benefits. If you’re craving a simple, nourishing approach to gut health and want to bring more intention to your kitchen—Comment MENTOR and I’ll send you the details for our 6-week mentorship. We’re diving deep into fermentation, preserving the harvest, and building a homegrown pantry that actually supports your health—not just fills your shelves. #gut #guthealthmatters #fermentation #ferments #fermenting #health #wellness #healthyliving #healing #healtylife #cleaneats #preservation #harvest #preserving

I know so many of you are here because you’re ready to finally grow enough food to feed your family—without wasting time, space, or energy
I know so many of you are here because you’re ready to finally grow enough food to feed your family—without wasting time, space, or energy. And I get it… because I’ve been there too. Back when we were first starting out, I was overwhelmed, unsure what to plant when, and constantly second-guessing if I was doing it right. That’s exactly why I started building a system—one that made gardening simple, seasonal, and sustainable. Since then, I’ve helped thousands of gardeners map out their spaces, plan their crops with confidence, and actually harvest enough to preserve and eat year-round. Now I want to know… What’s your biggest question about getting started with growing your own food? Drop it below so I can help! ⬇️ And if you’re ready for step-by-step guidance, real-time support, and a community of gardeners walking the same path—you’ll love the Confident Gardener Mentorship. (Spots are limited, but we’d love to have you.) I used to lose plants left and right and couldn’t figure out why
I used to lose plants left and right and couldn’t figure out why.
It wasn’t my soil.
It wasn’t my watering.
It was timing. Even though the plants looked healthy when they arrived, I didn’t realize they still needed time to adjust.
They’d had some exposure—but not to the full sun, wind, and temperature swings of my backyard. When I planted them right out of the box, they’d wilt… stall out… or just never thrive.
Not because they were weak—but because I skipped a step. Now I always harden off my plants first—even the healthy, vibrant plug plants from @gardenclubplants Here’s the quick-start guide: ☀️ Day 1–2: A few hours in dappled shade 🌤️ Day 3–4: Morning sun, light breeze ☀️💨 Day 5–6: Full sun, increasing exposure 🪴 Day 7: Ready for the garden And don’t skip this: water from overhead right after transplant. It helps settle the soil around the roots—like tucking them into bed. It’s a simple shift that made all the difference.
And if you’ve ever felt like your garden just never takes off… this might be the missing link.
And check out the plug plants from @gardenclubplants - they’re such a great head start for spring gardening. 💛 Tag a garden buddy who needs to see this!
