Friends!! I’m excited to have recently tested @thesugarart new Natural Colors with my royal icing recipe (which is very basic, no acid which might impact chemistry), and my initial impressions are highly positive. While it does take a bit more product to achieve the same depth of shade compared to synthetic colors, this line is a huge step forward in supporting the industry’s move toward cleaner, globally compliant color formulations. There’s no discernible flavor in any of the pigments I tested, and the staying power has been impressive—colors remain vibrant and true even after 5+ days away from direct sunlight. The shades themselves are beautifully balanced and versatile for decorating. I am still working on doing a freezer test, sun test and longevity test. I’d highly recommend that decorators start testing these with their own recipes now to ensure a smooth transition when the time comes. Change takes time, and color chemistry is complex, but thoughtful testing is key to success—and these pigments are a great place to start. Someone asked us for this and I’m happy to share. 🫶🏼🌿 Naturals can fade - but it takes DAYS under harsh lighting to do so, this is why we recommend covering your confections as soon as your designs are finished - just to be safe. 😘😘 I really BELIEVE yall can do this … transition to naturals … as a non-cookier, but someone who knows so many professionals and truly loves this industry.
