Villa M, located in Mies, Switzerland is a minimalist residence designed by Leopold Banchini Architects (@leopoldbanchini). The structure features an elongated, unadorned taçade that mirrors the surrounding landscape, complemented by a reflecting pool of equal length. A single expansive window opens onto a floating terrace, framing views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. Inside, the home spans three levels, with subterranean bedrooms opening onto a secluded patio where a shallow rainwater pool reflects light into the interior. Artist, collector and entrepreneur Nan Swid’s New York apartment, brilliantly designed by Kazem Naderi of @nadprojectsinc and featured in the Spring issue of @neptune_papers. “Everything has something,” Swid says of the objects Naderi has orchestrated for her, from a Pierre Guariche jib lamp to a Philippe Malouin rubber desk to a collection of 19th-century mochaware. Their ten-year collaboration has evolved into a creative dialogue that isn’t so different from the ones she enjoyed at Swid Powell, the design company she co-founded with her friend Addie Powell in 1982. Swid Powell’s artful marketing brought Postmodernism into fashionable kitchens and laid the groundwork for the full-blown starchitect craze of the Nineties. For Swid, its success lay in elevating commercial product design and helping architects realize some pretty out-there ideas, many of which never would have found buyers in the realm of architecture. She’s found similar joy in working on her apartment-first with Stephen Sills, then with Annabelle Selldorf and now, fruitfully, with Naderi. “It’s beautiful for me,” Swid says of the latest incarnation. I want it to be a surprise.” - T Mag, 2015 written by Cathy Horyn 45 East 9th was designed in 1925 and converted to coop in 1958, and is one of Greenwich Village’s most desirable full-service prewar buildings. At home with Christian and Karen Boros in Berlin: their extraordinary apartment sits atop a historic WWII bunker that has lived many lives - from air-raid shelter, to communist-era fruit storage, to the original site of the legendary Berghain nightclub. Purchased by the Boroses in 2003, the bunker now houses their renowned contemporary art collection, open to the public by guided tour. A hidden elevator and sliding door - reminiscent of a 1960s Bond film - lead to their remarkable open-plan residence, famously featured in Todd Field’s TÁR. Text and images by @collectorwalls
