Details Matter: Hightower Overview • The Hightower is a versatile beast. We like to talk about it as being our ‘Greatest Hits’ bike, as it showcases all the best of our design, engineering, and performance features. At 150mm and paired with a 160mm fork, the Hightower fits right into the middle of the travel range in our FS lineup that starts at 100mm with the ultralight Blur, and tops out at 208mm on our legendary V10. For many riders, this is the ‘Just Right’ amount of travel, as it allows you to tackle a very wide range of intended use, from sublime natural singletrack to jagged alpine adventures. The refined next-gen VPP suspension system on the Hightower has the shock and associated linkage moved down lower into the frame, creating suspension kinematics with reduced anti-squat and a more composed and mature ride. The suspension remains active while pedaling up and across rough, technical terrain, and offers more sensitivity - it’s plush off the top, with improved small bump performance and a shock leverage rate that provides predictable, consistent, progressive support. The geometry inspires confidence, without losing the light, fast, agile feel of a trail bike and helps balance the rider between the wheels, while the proportional geometry makes sure every rider, no matter their size gets the best riding bike. And the reduced rolling resistance and larger footprint of those big 29” wheels increase traction to help riders cover ground faster and more efficiently. All these features come together in the tidy package you see here; with the clean lines you’ve come to expect from a Santa Cruz, and the finishing features like our Glovebox in-frame storage. In short, the Hightower is an all-terrain thriller. If you are looking for something that is a fast-rolling, all-day, all-purpose, all-terrain, all-arounder that will eat up miles of dirt, the Hightower is for you. Details Matter The Bullit’s battery system. Why the 600 Wh + 250 Wh configuration is the best option for overall ride quality. • Thanks to @boschebikesystems modern battery cell technology, the Bullit’s internal 600 Wh battery allows us to make a surprisingly light, supreme handling, full-power, 170mm travel ebike in the 48.4 lbs / 21.95 kg weight range. And while we think the Bullit, as it sits, has plenty enough range for your average daily 2.5 to 3 hr rides, we know that some riders want, or need, more juice for longer excursions, so the Bullit has an optional 250 wh PowerMore range extender to boost your total battery capacity to 850 Wh. Why not just use the 800 Wh main battery? We value handling, and trail manners above all. And the PowerTube 800 weighs a full 900 grams / 2 pounds more than the 600. That’s a whole lot of weight to add in the event you might need it for some rides. But if you do the Bullit’s 600 Wh + PowerMore 250 Wh gives you 50 watts more than the 800, and carries the added weight a little bit lower on the frame, and more rearward, which helps lower the overall center of gravity. The 800 battery is also wider than the 600, which means we would have to build the carbon frame structure around that battery to a larger diameter, increasing the frame structure weight, and changing the Bullit’s sleek profile to one with a more big & bulky downtube shape. Details Matter | The Dialed-In Fit and Feel of the New Bullit • The Santa Cruz Bullit has many standard features that get you in the ballpark for optimal fit and feel for your body size, and for the Bullit’s intended use - pushing the boundaries on aggressive DH terrain. This includes a wide frame size range from Small to XXL that covers riders from 5’1”/154cm to 6’7”/200cm. Each size also has proportional geometry. This means that the rear-center grows as the sizes increase, giving all riders the same dialed handling characteristics across the size range. There are also features that help you further fine-tune to your personal preference including Flip-Chip hardware that allows you to independently adjust both the geometry and the shock progression/leverage rate. This means you have 4 unique combinations to dial-in your bike to suit your local trails, and/or riding style. The Geo chip at the upper link raises or lowers the bottom bracket height 4mm, and adjusts the headtube angle 0.3-degrees from 63.3° to 63.6° - The Hi position is typically for riders looking for something with more ground clearance if your rides usually consist of pedaling through technical, chunky terrain. - The Low position is for riders looking to optimize for fast corners, and faster descents. The Progression chip at the shock mount changes the shock progression. - Low progression provides a very consistent feel that prioritizes responsiveness. Supportive off-the-top, and consistent throughout the mid-stroke. - Hi progression sits into the travel a bit more and prioritizes bump-eating forgiveness. Glenn MacArthur wins the Epic Enduro 🏆 • Considered to be one of the hardest Enduro races in the world, our man @glennmac_mtb spent 15 hours aboard his Santa Cruz Hightower, completed 13 timed stages, rode 120 kilometers (!), with 5000 Meters of elevation gain, all on some of France’s most challenging terrain in the Caroux Mountains.
