Thank you to GP Dr Róna Girvan, @the.balance.doctor for speaking to @lizohaganpharmacist tonight, as part of Pharmacy 360’s Element on Social Connections and Relationships. Dr Róna is a GP, and certified lifestyle medicine practitioner. Did you know that the Shingles Vaccine service is available in Meaghers stores? Shingles is a viral disease caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox, the herpes-zoster virus. While 95% of adults have had chicken pox, the virus remains inactive in the body. The virus can become active again later in life where it causes shingles. Of the 95% of adults that have had chickenpox, approximately 25% go on to develop shingles. While suffering with shingles you can experience burning or stabbing pain in and around the rash which can be constant or intermittent. This can last from a few days up to 2-4 weeks. The shingles vaccine helps to reduce the risk of developing shingles as well as lessen the severity and duration of symptoms. You can book the Shingles vaccine in store by visiting Meaghers.ie 💛
