#ad #jjillstyle Inspiration strikes when you least expect it—and for me, it happened the moment I saw J.Jill’s @jjillstyle new Early Summer collection. Instantly, I knew the perfect menu to pair with each look.  The vibrant blue & white Printed Shift Dress brought to mind the bold, sunny flavors of the Mediterranean. Did I imagine myself savoring a Caprese salad and sipping limoncello while wearing this stunning piece? Absolutely—how could I not?    Then there’s the effortlessly chic Cotton Gauze Set and Soft Indigo Maxi Dress, which exude comfort and ease. Much like my Prosciutto and Arugula Pasta—it’s quick to prepare in just 15 minutes but satisfies with all the coziness of true comfort food.    For something romantic and sweet, the timeless black-and-white ensemble immediately reminded me of my favorite Éclair Cake. Elegant, decadent, and perfect for a cozy date night in.    You can find all these outfits and recipes over on my free substack JuliaCurated.Substack.com. Want them delivered straight to you? Just comment “Summer” below!    Be sure to explore J.Jill’s full Early Summer collection on their page, and check out my curated favorites here: https://www.jjill.com/outfit-inspiration-3#/influencer-collective/julia Art inspires life, and life inspires art—and when it involves stylish fashion and delicious food, I’m all in.

Here’s what I know: that small white table with the brass bar you see in the last frame has been a part of my family for three generations
Here’s what I know: that small white table with the brass bar you see in the last frame has been a part of my family for three generations... In my grandmother’s house, it served as a surface for cutting meat. In my mother’s kitchen, it held our little TV—the kind that was a square box with front buttons and an antenna. And in my kitchen? I installed a bistro curtain and rail to conceal the microwave. Why am I sharing this? Because this little table has been in use for nearly 70 years, and it’s likely older than that—my grandmother bought it as an antique. It has stayed with us for one simple reason: it was built to last. Its handmade design, unconventional size, and unique shape have made it endlessly adaptable. This table wasn’t hastily thrown together with flimsy materials or manufactured to mimic quality. It wasn’t the product of thin, wood-like veneers slapped onto a cheap frame for the sake of convenience. No, this table was crafted by calloused, skilled hands. Someone who knew how to select sturdy wood and had the talent to build something with character and longevity. So here’s my final thought: if energy is neither created nor destroyed, I would rather invest in something made by capable hands than by an unfeeling machine any day of the week. And as my mama would say, You Can Take That To The Bank. Love the home you’re in. Create a home you love. They are literal garden magic
They are literal garden magic... Husks! Why? 1. As husks break down, they add nutrients to the soil, like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium—all the good stuff your plants need to grow strong and produce plenty of fruits and veggies. 2. Corn husks and cobs contain a rich array of flavonoids such as quercetin and rutin. They have antimicrobial and antibacterial effects. < Why is quercetin cool? Cliff notes: Quercetin is a natural plant pigment classified as a flavonoid, a group of compounds responsible for the vibrant colors of many fruits, flowers, and vegetables. It's a powerful antioxidant and helps neutralize those scary free radicals—harmful molecules that can damage cell membranes, disrupt DNA, and even lead to cell death. How about rutin? Rutin is awesome because it has been shown to reduce capillary fragility associated with some hemorrhagic diseases or hypertension in humans. I don't know about you, but I would like more of both, please! > Moving on... 3. Corn husks and cobs make an excellent mulch alternative to hay or straw, offering valuable support for soil microflora. Additionally, they have the added benefit of deterring insect pests, making them a practical and eco-friendly choice for gardeners. How to find them in your area: Farmers' markets, local farmers, or make yourself some corn on the cob and dry the husks yourself! If you found this interesting, give this post a like or share! When I think back to the time I was planning this kitchen, I remember how much idle time I actually had
When I think back to the time I was planning this kitchen, I remember how much idle time I actually had. I was nursing my son morning, noon, and night, quite literally. So, as I rocked and nursed and rocked some more, I envisioned what this space could be. I wanted the kitchen to feel as if it were from a different time, yet modern enough to accommodate my hectic cooking style with ease. If you've seen my cooking videos, you know how crazy my kitchen can become. Sure, it's satire for entertainment, but the chaos is real. The thing about a kitchen is that it is the heartbeat of any home. It's where the nourishment and nurturing of its occupants originate. It's also the gathering place, or at least it has always been in my home and the home I grew up in. We weren't a family that huddled around a TV with the latest game blasting at us as we idly spoke, our true focus on the screen. Rather, our family always found ourselves squeezed into the kitchen, dicing onions, decanting wine, and laughing until our sides ached, while playfully exchanging sharp but affectionate barbs. It was, in essence, a life lived to the fullest. So, when I think about designing a space, I don't fret about the hardware or nailing that perfect wall color. Instead, I envision the time I want to have in that space, the people I want there, and what elements I can incorporate to make them feel at home. All of this is to say that design HAS to have heart, or it will miss the mark every-single-time. What say you? 🏷️ cottage style home, cottage kitchen, interior design, thoughtful design, home design

Gardening Hack #1: Don't do this
Gardening Hack #1: Don't do this... If you want your plants to thrive year after year, it’s crucial to give them the best chance for survival. One common mistake I see is when gardeners cut back the greenery of spring bloomers like daffodils, tulips, and peonies too soon, only to wonder why they hardly bloom the following year. Here’s the simple explanation: photosynthesis. Yes, that yawn of a topic we all learned about in grade school. Let me quickly give you the cliff notes—we don’t want you to fall asleep a second time. The green leaves of your plant are its food source—they absorb sunlight and send nutrients down to the roots or bulbs. If you remove the greenery too early, you’re cutting off the plant’s ability to store energy for the next growing season. Sure, you might think, "The flowers are done blooming, so what’s the point?" But hold on, my little Black Eyed Susan—it’s all about planning for the future! Gardening is a long-term partnership with nature, and working with her (instead of against her) is the only way to have success. So, what should you do? Leave the greens intact for as long as possible. For my tulips, I let the foliage stay for about two more weeks after blooming before carefully removing the bulbs. I dry them on a screen for a week until the leaves turn a nice, crunchy brown. Then, I store them in a cool, dark place in a paper bag until it’s time for replanting in November. If your tulips remain in the same spot in your yard year after year, there's no need to worry about removing them. Simply wait until the foliage has completely withered before cutting it back. The lesson: Don't cut back the greens until they are so ugly you just can't stand it anymore. That extra time allows the bulb to absorb more nutrients, making it healthier and helping it produce even stronger blooms come spring. Let’s be honest—wineries are great, but haven’t we all been to enough by now
Let’s be honest—wineries are great, but haven’t we all been to enough by now? Sure, sipping wine in a picturesque field has its charm, but after a dozen visits, it starts to feel the same. Now, imagine this: you’re enjoying a perfectly crisp glass of wine while taking in breathtaking 360-degree views of Virginia’s stunning mountain landscapes. Picture yourself learning a bit of history as a maître d’ presents you with a beautifully curated charcuterie board, all while you relax in plush, cozy seating. And here’s the kicker—on your return journey, you can step out onto the train’s open-air vestibule to breathe in the fresh mountain air. If that doesn’t sell you, consider this: the dome car of Virginia’s Scenic Railway was once owned by none other than country music legend Merle Haggard. Just imagine casually dropping, “I once rode in a dome car owned by Merle Haggard” into conversation—that’s instant cool points with any crowd. As for the ride itself? It was a perfect blend of tranquility and exhilaration. I knew it would be enjoyable, but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. It was, without a doubt, one of the most delightful surprises I’ve had in a long time. Want to experience this unforgettable journey? Comment “ride” below for booking details and to learn more about the train’s fascinating history. Don’t forget to share this post with the friend you’d bring along! When people ask me what I do for a living, I always make the same joke: "I post pictures of my stove online
When people ask me what I do for a living, I always make the same joke: "I post pictures of my stove online." This usually results in a look of confusion and anticipation, as if they're trying to figure out if I'm serious and if it's okay to laugh. Indeed, it's the truth. I happen to manage a Home & Lifestyle blog as well. However, at times, it seems more like a platform dedicated to celebrating this stove... I've named her The Blue Lady, and it's by far my favorite outlandish purchase during the renovation of my home. That statement sounds too final; I should clarify and say that this 1860s farmhouse is under CONSTANT renovation, much to the chagrin of my wallet and sanity. If you're an old home lover, you understand. If not, let's just say when you buy an old house, you get a new hobby. Your home becomes your single most time-consuming hobby. But I wouldn't change it for the world... I've kept you here long enough, I hope you have a lovely day and like & follow for more... I hope to see you in stories! I try to keep it fun, funny, and absolutely unhinged. 🏷️ cottage style home, cottage kitchen, cottagecore

I almost forgot
I almost forgot... That this is the whole point. I spend my days immersed in the world of aesthetics. Not because I'm superficial or obsessed with perfectly designed spaces—far from it. It’s my job to focus on aesthetics. My work revolves around capturing the beauty of products, like photographing a duvet in a way that makes you, the reader, imagine it perfectly in your own home. I didn’t create this concept, nor do I believe it’s manipulative. Instead, I sleep well knowing that I contribute to presenting items in a way that inspires. Even better, I genuinely love what I do. As a home and lifestyle blogger, I enjoy the flexibility of my work—it allows me to be here, at home, with this little guy. He constantly reminds me of what truly matters. Aesthetics mean nothing to him—he couldn’t care less if his toys are color-coordinated or if his playroom is meticulously organized. What matters to him is joy—laughing without restraint, feeling loved, having fun, and simply being a kid. Children have a unique way of teaching us invaluable lessons, untainted by modern conventions or societal expectations. Their perspectives are pure and unfiltered—they live fully in the moment, reacting authentically and naturally gravitating toward joy. Perhaps the greatest lesson they offer is this: being alive isn’t about appearances or grand achievements; it’s found in the simplicity of each moment. Happiness, they remind us, isn’t just a part of life—it’s the very essence of it. They remind us, just when we’re about to forget, that this is the whole point. #motherhood
