Structure Fire – Bayville, NJ Just after 9:45 PM, crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 54 Morris Blvd in Bayville. First-arriving units found heavy fire showing from the garage attic area. Stations 17, 18, 20, and Station 60 (FAST) responded along with the County Fire Coordinator and Fire Marshal. Multiple hand lines were stretched through the front door and garage, with a quick knockdown achieved within 15 minutes. Extensive overhaul operations followed. At the time of this post, the cause remains under investigation. 20 people in total were rescued from the strong rip currents in Seaside over the weekend. Amazing job by the SHFD here captured by @jerseyshorefireresponse. Remember to never enter the ocean without lifeguards present even when it looks “calm”.

Another extremely active day for Seaside Heights & Seaside Park water rescue crews. Despite clear skies and warm temps, a 2–4 ft swell brought strong rip currents, catching many off guard. Just as I arrived in town, SHFD responded to their second rescue of the day two victims pulled from the surf within minutes. Throughout the afternoon, I patrolled by drone, scanning for swimmers in distress. I spotted a group being pulled out beyond the break and landed to investigate. As I approached the waterline, bystanders began yelling for help. One swimmer was caught in a rip and rapidly drifting out. I advised them to call 911, grabbed swim fins and a borrowed boogie board, and swam out to assist. I kept the victim calm until SHFD arrived via rescue jetski. Shortly after, a second major incident occurred involving 4–5 individuals clinging to surfboards, one in significant distress. SHFD deployed the ski, conducted multiple victim rescues, and transferred patients to EMS. One was transported to a local hospital for further care. There were probably around 20 swimmer-in-distress calls today alone in Ocean County. Please never enter the water without lifeguards present. Spotted a 220-acre prescribed burn underway in Malabar, Florida. Brevard County crews were conducting the operation with support from the Florida Forest Service. This appeared to be a controlled, low-intensity burn part of routine fuel reduction and ecosystem management. No wildfire activity, just planned fire behavior to maintain healthy land and reduce wildfire risk.
