They’re back. Our Bloomsbury Buns—soft, sticky, scented with orange blossom and scattered with salted almonds—have made their way back to the deli counter, and honestly, we couldn’t be happier. Sooo this week I had the pleasure of hosting a two panel’s on food writing as part of the @britishlibrary Food Season
Sooo this week I had the pleasure of hosting a two panel’s on food writing as part of the @britishlibrary Food Season. On Thursday night we had eight of the most interesting people read pieces of writing that meant something to them - some from their own writing, some from their favourite writers - and we talked through what each piece meant to them. @ruby.tandoh @marie_mitchell_ @angelahuii @chefdomtaylor @jeremyleeqv @cynthia.uma @oliahercules It was a very moving, joyful and thought provoking night. What struck me most was how differently each person approached the brief (wait NO there was not brief!) — we had everything from Anthony Bourdain, to a chapter from a manga book, to an MP for Tottenham it was such a beautiful reminder of just how far food writing can stretch, and how powerful it can be. Last night we had the legends table, and wow if that wasn’t my dream dinner party, I don’t know what could top it. We celebrated Claudia Roden, Ken Hom and Anna del Conte, each one of them responsible for bringing the food and flavours of their homelands to the UK and integral to shaping the food scene today. It was a pinch me moment and so special to have Ken and Claudia with us. Anna was much missed (at home in Dorset, she turns 100 next week!) but represented beautifully by @angelacooking as well as her daughter and granddaughter who joined us and gave permission for the showing of a stunning film. Honestly they say don’t meet your heroes, but I truly recommend holding a dinner party with them inside a library. What I enjoyed the most was hearing them talk so warmly about one another, it was truly special. Oh and Angela and I were bestowed baby legend status. Big love to @britishlibrary and co-directors of the food season @the_history_cook @angela_clutton @melissafood and @joe.allen.food for giving us the stage. And heartfelt thanks to our wonderful panel on both evenings! WOW I'm still buzzing. Our Spring Supper Club continues (and we’re really excited about this one) with the supper club queen herself — the wonderful @rosiekellett. Rosie is a superb chef, food writer and all-round supper club master. She’s joining us at Honey & Co. Daily on Monday 19th May to celebrate the release of her brilliant debut cookbook, In For Dinner — a love letter to seasonal, delicious food that brings people together. Which, as you know, is exactly what we’re all about. We’ll be serving a 3-course menu showcasing the best of spring — from her infamous Comté, spring onion & sesame scones, to garden peas, broad beans & spring onions over whipped lemony ricotta, to her granny Pat’s almond macaroons. We had the pleasure of hosting our second supper club with the brilliant @omereado @aleph_london and what a joy it was. Omer came to us with this idea to do a Mimouna dinner—basically a big, beautiful feast to celebrate the end of Passover by eating as much gluten and sweets as humanly possible. Obviously, we said yes immediately. He moved into the kitchen for a few days—slow-cooking lamb overnight in the bread ovens, made couscous by hand (?!), sharing the space with our pastry team, and filling every corner with trays of sweet, sticky Mimouna treats. The menu was packed with flavour: matbucha, grilled veg, chermoula carrots, fresh sardines with tomato and coriander. That lamb, soft and rich, with chickpeas and paprika. The braised squash and onions, not to mention the homemade couscous. And then there were the desserts: mufleta fresh off the pan, sticky chebakia cookies, chewy almondy Jhaban, — all gone in minutes. A massive thanks to all of the amazing beautiful people that came, it was so lovely to see everyone having such a magical time. It was loud, warm and totally delicious. Omer is cooking more than just food, there is real spirit, care and love in what he does. We can’t wait for the next one! Missed this one? Do not fear join us on Monday 12th May at Honey & Co. Our original business plan for Honey & Co didn’t include a single cake. But that changed the moment we saw 25a Warren Street and its big, beautiful front window. We knew then—cake would have to be a part of what we were going to do. Twelve years later, we signed the lease at 47 Lamb’s Conduit Street, and the same feeling washed over us. This window needs—no, demands—a joyful, colourful cake display. At Honey & Co. Studio, the cake display is always changing. Always full of Sarit’s latest creation. Always ready to stop people in their tracks. We didn’t plan for it to become such a thing, but now we couldn’t imagine the place without it. Whether it’s a child on their way to Coram’s Fields, nose pressed to the glass, already bargaining for “just one”; the nurse from Great Ormond Street with a rare ten minutes to spare; or our neighbours on Lamb’s Conduit Street doing their daily cake check. The team knows their orders before they even step through the door—brownie (no matter the flavour) for the shop owner up the road, vegan cookie for the manager at Folk-In. Like clockwork. It’s become a rhythm of the street. We’ve watched the seasons shift through that glass over the past year. Watched people pause—eager-eyed, calculating their next indulgence. We’ve turned our little pop-up at No.47 into something permanent — say hello to Honey & Co. Studio 🎉 Honey & Co. Studio is a new creative space, just across from our flagship restaurant, on beautiful Lamb’s Conduit Street. Sarit and I have always wanted to offer our guests more beyond the usual dining experience – whether through our restaurants, supper clubs, cookbooks,socials or podcast. We always hope to offer something warm, enriching and, above all, fun. This place is a bricks-and-mortar expression of that spirit, a home for the things that don’t quite fit the usual restaurant model. Part workshop, part gallery, part cultural space, it’s designed for hands-on sessions, collaborative projects and thoughtful conversations, all rooted in the same instinct: to bring people joy! In May we'll kick things off with The Joy Season, the first programme of in-person events at The Studio. With one simple goal – to bring more joy (because who can argue with that?) – the season is all about picking up new hobbies, trying something different, and enjoying everyday pleasures in good company. Sarit and I will share our love of ceramics – a lockdown hobby that became a full-blown obsession – with a hands-on pinch pot class. We've also invited a whole host of brilliant creatives to share their own passions, from kimchi making and life drawing to lino printing and a book club. Every event has been carefully curated to offer you something unexpected and fun. Do not fear, the front of the space is still very much our deli — open Monday to Saturday with our fresh bakes, sandwiches, seasonal treats & pantry bits - so even if you’re not joining a workshop, pop in for a sandwich, snack or two. The Passover supper club we hosted on Saturday night was born from a conversation Sarit & I had about our childhood memories — or let’s be real, traumas — of never-ending Passovers. We wanted to create our own take on it, focusing on only the best bits: great conversation, wonderful people, and, let’s face it, the FOOD. Saturday was the epitome of exactly what we were wanting to create. It was truly a magical evening. There was laughter, tears (still not sure if it was the horseradish or not…), and the best group of people in London. We’re humbled and honoured to have brought everyone together.
