Shot this rare lil beauty for a private client this evening… Bubblegum pink crisp polished cotton 1950s draped hourglass Hawaiian sarong cocktail dress by “Gladice Fashions of Honolulu.” She had all the bells and whistles- hand printed metallic gold hibiscus, removable halter strap, elastic ruched sides, that structured bodice, and impeccably draped wrap sarong skirt. But I think, honestly, what I found the most special about this piece was its original tag still attached. Yes, this piece was absolutely unworn, it could not get more pristine. Just look at that tag: “Polynesian Imports Honolulu Hawaii” and on the back, “Polynesian Casuals - Farmers Market - Third & Fairfax - Los Angeles 36, Calif.” 🥹 Isn’t that just the best? An absolutely gorgeous 1950s designer “Ceil Chapman” polished cotton draped hourglass cocktail dress! I love the mid century abstract floral on this one, and the colors! The entire neckline is lined in elastic, so it could be worn on or off the shoulders. Looking at this piece, there’s no mystery why this was one of Marilyn Monroe’s favorite labels. So vintage bombshell, so classic, so elegant. A fabulous size, accommodating a 36-38 inch bust, a 29 inch waist, up to 42 inch hips, and 43 inches total length. Original 1950s inky black crisp cotton THREE PIECE custom made sundress set! Strapless bustier with flutter top, high waisted beyond circle skirt with ruffled hem, and matching wrap shawl! All 3 pieces are hand embellished in wool felt 3D flowers, stems, and leaves with metallic sequin details. This ensemble is pristine, and a great size with a 29-31 inch waist!
