Margeaux walks down a kind of “memory lane” of being at the @brooklynmuseum when she was in her 20’s. Apparently, the Period Rooms saw some things they probably shouldn’t have. We all know that Margeaux has lived quite a colorful past, and nothing should surprise us at this point. Hazel is working hard to stay engaged while also protecting Winston from overhearing these sordid stories of yesteryear.

We’d like to thank Laufey (@laufey) for an unforgettable performance in the Beaux-Arts Court, Swizz Beatz (@therealswizzz) for keeping the vibe alive during the after party, and Matthew Kirk (@navajothunder) for the photo booth experience to remember the night by with furniture created in collaboration with Ben Erickson (@ericksonaesthetics). Creative direction provided by Jeffrey Gibson (@jeffrune). Thank you to everyone who helped to make the fourteenth annual Brooklyn Artists Ball such a special evening. “My early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves
“My early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves.” 🌏 This message was sent to the press in an email by environmental activist and attorney, David Buckel, who walked into Prospect Park, doused himself in gasoline, and set himself on fire on the morning of April 14, 2018. He expressed the hope that his death would encourage others to be more mindful of our planet. Brooklyn-based photographer Joel Sternfeld happened to be in Prospect Park that day. The following day, he began to document the gradual regeneration of the site to honor Buckel’s hope. “Our Loss,” which comprises seventy-four photographs in total, is part of an ongoing series by Sternfeld on the effects of climate change. It is a remarkable example of the quintessential relationship between photography, grief, and remembrance. See this series by Sternfeld on view in Breaking the Mold: Brooklyn Museum at 200. 📷 Joel Sternfeld (@sternfeldarchive). “Our Loss” series, 2018–19, printed 2021. Pigmented inkjet print. The morning light shines just right on Mark di Suvero’s “Sooner or Later.” ☀️ With its tight curves, sharp angles, and thick beams reaching to the sky, “Sooner or Later” is a premier example of di Suvero’s outdoor objects. In fact, this sculpture is one of our 200 Brooklyn Icons; a set of standout artworks from across our encyclopedic collection for our 200th anniversary. It seems like everyone in Brooklyn is becoming a DJ… including the honey bees who call our rooftop home
It seems like everyone in Brooklyn is becoming a DJ… including the honey bees who call our rooftop home! 🐝 To celebrate the important role of honey bees in our ecosystem on Earth Day, they’ve dropped a bee-utiful mixtape on Spotify, inspired by our borough being in full-bloom! This spring, our rooftop residents are busy pollinating Brooklyn. They can fly up to three miles from their hives, so they’ve likely buzzed through Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Green-Wood Cemetery, and even the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Buzz on over to the link in our bio to listen to the playlist and tell us what questions you have about our two honey bee hives in the comments!👇 #EarthDay #HoneyBee #BrooklynMuseum #BkMSocialAction
