Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms of all kinds. (Snaps here of guests & their bloom moments over the years & seasons) the first and last photo… the girl who has - and will- always make the very best wild flower bouquets. 14 bouquets and counting. (Also on this day, every year, we literally beg our reluctant garden beds to please come back for just one more season) Sending a big fat virtual bunch of wild flowers to all the moms who grow all the things🪷

It’s here! We created a beverage line to celebrate 100 Years of Summers here at Camp Wandawega. All of our old school favorites: Root Beer, Birch Beer, Sarsaparilla and Ginger Ale. Look close - each label tells a different story from our saints & sinners past. Every guest group gets gifted a sampler pack when they check in. (Also for sale at our Canteen, Beverage Van cooler, and in Chicago at the @Bureauoftourism. This collection was created entirely by our talented new friend, Curtis Jinkins of @neighborhood_studio. (Scroll to the end for some BTS of his inspiration & thumbnail sketches). We’ve been a stalker fan of his work for years – from graphics for Deus Ex Machine to Kiehl’s, Wrangler, and Filson. So when he answered our post for “Creatives Wanted” we freaked out. (He knows who we are? He wants to barter with us? Bring his fam to camp?) I had zero chill on our first call. Curtis is a creative Swiss Army knife; it’s beyond rare to find somebody who’s as good at writing as they are designing. As talented at concepting new ideas as they are at illustrating them. Then they’re even more of a unicorn when they turn out to be humble, fast, and just damn fun to work with. . Belly up. The Wandawega Placemat boxed sets are here. We’ve been hoarding and researching the old school placemats of the ‘50s and ‘60s. In the heyday of the roadtrip, travelers found these guides in every roadside diner, to guide them to the tourist attractions en route to their destination. The box sets come with a dozen each of two designs: “Wildlife of Wandawega” featuring the creatures we call neighbors. (Quiz your friends) “Place”-Mat: Inspired by the classic road trip paper placemats found at roadhouses, diners, and supper clubs. Ours feature 20 of our favorite classic destinations within an hour of camp. “For the host. For everyday use. Endless uses: dinner parties. Picnics, special occasions. Our first artist in residence for the 2025 season: @emmystarbrown ….Sharing a sneak peek of her process & views during her stay with us this past week. We’ll be sharing the final piece soon, on display in our camp artist house. Learn more at wandawega.com/air We’ve been fans of her work for some time… including a couple of recent collabs with friends and wandawega neighbors @fieldnotesbrand and @bigdeliciousplanet ABOUT: A Chicago native, Emmy has always been inspired by her hometown city’s unique blend of style, story, and character, which has served as a backdrop and canvas throughout much of her creative career. Emmy kickstarted her career with a BFA in visual communications from the Illinois Institute of Art, later parlaying it into a creative position in advertising at one of Chicago’s marquee agencies. There she earned her commercial stripes in branding and packaging before breaking away to pursue work as an independent artist. She’s since spent the past decade adorning public spaces across Chicago and beyond while continuing to nurture her studio practice. And with current work that includes everything from illustration, lettering, and canvas work to branding, packaging, and murals, she continues to evolve both her mediums and methods. At the center of her eclectic and diverse portfolio are a whole host of creative partnerships with iconic brands such as Sharpie, Chicago Bulls, Lululemon, Yeti, RedBull, Delta, T-Mobile, Jeni’s Ice Cream, Vital Proteins, Foxtrot and Soho House. They tap Emmy for her signature style, which is both extroverted and introspective. She employs fresh colors, intentional layering, and emotive line work to create one-of-a-kind elemental experiences that drive wonder, spark connection, and encourage presence. To date, her work has lived in a host of iconic public spaces from Times Square to Miami’s Wynwood Art District and beyond. And while her scope continues to expand, so does her artistic vision. Her current studio practice is focused on the concept of the Inner Child, highlighting the joy, spontaneity, and fearlessness synonymous with our younger selves.

Spring is waking this place up again - Mother’s Day is around the corner. My phone just served up this throwback for a @monicaandandy shoot - when Charliegirl could still fit on my lap, she let me put dresses on her- and her best friend Frankie was still here to follow her every step. We just haven’t had a way to do it,” Surratt said. “And so this space is going to serve as sort of a multi-faceted Swiss Army Knife for that.” “The Bureau of Tourism — its name a nod to tourism bureaus in Wisconsin and elsewhere from the early 20th century — will feature two main spaces: a front retail showroom and a multipurpose creative space in the back for all kinds of events” “They have slowly been taking steps to establish more of a foothold for Camp Wandawega in Chicago in recent years, including through pop-ups at the Tie Bar in Lincoln Park and the Center of Order and Experimentation in West Town” . @travelwisconsin @wisconsinhistoricalsociety
