Kiddos learn best when it’s something they enjoy! Myofunctional therapy doesn’t need to look any sort of way, we like to allow the kids to lead the way in a fun and playful learning environment. Some days that’s is sitting and learning others it is blowing bubbles, or smelling different stickers, reading a book or building a tower. One bag of chips or candy snacked on throughout the day could be worse for the teeth than just eating the whole bag all at once! Same with sipping a soda or juice! Why? It all has to do with acid! Our body breaks down sugar into acids in the mouth. Ultimately that acid breaks down the teeth forming cavities, if our teeth are exposed to it for long enough. But, our saliva is meant to neutralize that acid! So eating snacks all at once only causes a single acid spike where eating small bits many times a day causes the acid to be in contact with the teeth longer. So as far as preventing cavities.. limiting the FREQUENCY of snacking is more important than limiting the QUANTITY of the snack. #dentist #cavities #dentalhealth #toothpaste #hydroxyapatite #happytooth
