🌱 VEGGIE PLANTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! 🌱 Our farmstand is stocked with our organically grown vegetable plants and herbs.  Lettuce, Onions, Kale, Peas, herbs, Strawberry plants and more are now available. These are all plants that can be planted outside NOW. Peppers, Tomatoes, Melons, Squash, and other warm season plants are not quite ready yet, due to the cold spring that we’ve been having, but, it’s also not warm enough to plant them outside yet, and there is still plenty of time to plant.  We’re OPEN Monday-Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 10-5. All 2 and 4 packs of veggie plants are $3.50 and all 3” single pots of veggies and herbs are $4.50 each. These plants are all 100% organically grown, right here in Stockdale.  ✅ What CAN you plant now? You can go ahead and plant your lettuce, onions, Swiss chard, kale, peas, and some of your herbs. ❌ What CAN’T you plant yet? Do NOT go ahead and plant your basil and peppers, melons, squash and cucumbers yet. It’s simply too cold out still, despite the fact that we have some warm days in the forecast ahead. Your basil will wilt if you give it a cold look, it certainly isn’t prepared to stand up to a cold spring wind. Your peppers also need warmer temperatures, and your melons squash and cucumbers run the risk of dampening off if they are planted too early. We know it’s tempting, but don’t plant these tender items quite yet. Keep your more tender seedlings outside during the day, when temperatures are above 10 degrees, and bring them inside at night, anytime the temperatures dip below 10 degrees. This process is called “hardening off”, and you’ll want to do this until we are consistently receiving 10 degree nights, at which point you can safely plant these more temperature sensitive seedlings outside. 🥬 Remember, you are safe to go ahead with planting your hardy spring crops like lettuce, onions, peas, kale and chard. Get those in the ground now, they love the cooler temperatures. We’re looking forward to helping you grow a healthy vegetable garden this spring!
