From my speech on Saturday night, shortly after I conceded the seat of Griffith. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so much to this campaign, who has fought as hard for someone they don't know as they would for themselves. Changing the country was never going to be easy. My message: don't give up hope. It is going to be tough, and there are going to be setbacks. But I believe we can win real change.

On Saturday night I called Labor’s candidate Renee Coffey and conceded Griffith, and congratulated and wished her well. Griffith is a special community and an immense privilege to represent. My thoughts from here ☝️

The Greens have secured the sole Balance of Power in the Senate and have re-elected our Senators! 🥳 This is a record amount of votes for the Greens in the history of our party. A huge congratulations to our incredible Senators, their teams, our volunteers and supporters across the country. 💚 With the Greens in the Balance of Power in the Senate, we have the numbers to get dental into Medicare, free childcare, wipe all student debt and other progressive policies that will make life better for millions of people. The only barrier is now Labor. While Labor has a majority in the House of Representatives, they will have to choose to work with the Greens or the Liberals to pass any legislation. It’s clear that voters want ambition, they want the parliament to work together to truly tackle the issues we face, not tinker around the edges. We are ready to make this the most progressive parliament we have ever seen. That’s what our Senators will be working for – strong action on the climate, housing and cost of living crisis.

Today, millions of people have voted Greens with hope and ambition. We have secured the biggest national vote in our history. And together we have kicked Dutton out.

Vote 1 Greens for strong climate action 💚 Labor has approved over 25 new coal and gas projects, while Dutton’s nuclear plan will delay action and keep coal and gas going for longer. Both take millions in corporate donations from coal and gas. We can’t keep voting for the same two parties expecting a different result. Last time there was a minority government, the Greens secured world-leading climate laws, and won billions for clean energy. With more Greens in parliament, we can’t keep voting do it again with your support. Vote 1 Greens to keep Dutton out & get Labor to act.

The Greens want to tax billionaires and big corporations so we can fund things our communities need. Right now, 1 in 3 big corporations pay no tax. By making them pay their fair share, we could raise $514 billion over the next decade — enough to fund things that really matter, like dental into Medicare and free childcare. Taxing Australia’s 150 billionaires just 10% would raise another $50 billion — enough for 50c public transport fares and to make GP visits free. But instead of holding big corporations and billionaires to account, Labor and the Liberals are taking millions in political donations from them. We can’t keep voting for the same two parties and expect a different result. This election, vote 1 Greens to keep Dutton out and get Labor to act.
