Happy Lei Day 🌺 🌿 @kauaicommonground hosts weekly Lei Po‘o workshops that go far beyond making something beautiful — they’re rooted in cultural education, sustainability, and deep respect for this land. 🌿⁠ ⁠ Each workshop shares the story of Hawai‘i’s flowers and foliage — many of which today are imported. But here, every lei is made using locally grown plants — some native, many canoe plants — and woven with intention. You learn how to substitute mindfully, how to protect native species, and how not all lei are meant to be bright or floral. A lei made of palapalai fern, laua‘e, or ti leaf can be just as powerful — and just as beautiful.⁠ These workshops are a living example of what it means to foster connection, support local agriculture, and model how visitors can experience Hawai‘i in a way that’s truly respectful and rooted in place.⁠ ⁠ They’re held Wednesdays and Thursdays and can be paired with a farm tour and dinner — or just come for the Lei Po‘o workshop and the farm-to-table experience. 🌺 Link in bio to learn more!
