SAVE THIS POST! Do this daily…. 3-4 sets, holding 20 seconds each! Most of us smile with our eyes, our jaw, or by pulling from the corners of our mouth. This exercise helps you practice lifting from your cheeks instead. The pencil gives your upper lip something to gently hold while your cheek muscles (your zygomaticus muscles) do the work. The firm pressure at your temples gives your brain feedback so it’s easier to feel the lift without clenching your jaw or tensing your forehead. A few things to focus on: • Lift your cheeks, not your shoulders. • Keep your forehead relaxed. • Don’t wrinkle your nose. • Breathe normally. If you’re just starting, hold the lift for 20 seconds and repeat it 3 times. After a couple of weeks, work up to 30-second holds for 4 rounds. One tip most people skip: don’t just drop the smile at the end. Slowly relax over about 5 seconds. That helps build better control and awareness of the movement. Thankful for the women in my life who celebrate with me and celebrate me. I’ve recently realized that, for a long time, I felt like I needed to dim my light. Like if I shined too brightly, people would be upset with me. Like other women wouldn’t cheer for me or celebrate my success. These women have shown me how wrong I was. There are women who genuinely want to see you win. Women who clap when good things happen to you. Women who speak your name in rooms you’re not in. Women who celebrate your ideas, your growth, your business, your family, and your dreams without making it about themselves. And I’ve realized something… The more secure a woman is in who she is, the easier it is for her to celebrate another woman. That’s the kind of woman I want to be. The kind who isn’t threatened by someone else’s light because I know there’s enough room for all of us to shine. If you’re one of those women in my life… thank you. I think about this a lot… Frownies started with one woman trying to solve a simple problem. Today, I feel like we’re trying to solve a much bigger one. Not wrinkles. The fear we’ve taught women to have of them. My hope is that every woman knows she has options. That she never feels pressured into doing something that doesn’t align with her values, her health, or the way she wants to age. At the same time, we’re seeing more and more women in their 20s starting Botox before they even have wrinkles. In fact, neuromodulator use among adults ages 20–29 increased by 71% between 2019 and 2022, largely driven by the rise of “preventative Botox.” (CBS News) Personally, I think that’s a conversation worth having. Preventative Botox means freezing muscles that don’t even have static wrinkles yet. Meanwhile, there are so many things young women can do to care for their skin naturally. Daily sunscreen. Healthy habits. Good skincare. Learning to relax facial tension. Getting enough sleep. Managing stress. These aren’t as flashy as an injection. But they build healthy skin for the long haul. Every woman gets to make her own decisions about her face. I genuinely believe that. My hope is simply that women make those decisions with all of the information, not just the marketing. I don’t think young women should be taught to fear wrinkles before they even have them. I think they should be taught how to care for their skin.
