🕊️ World Migratory Bird Day 2025 🕊️ This year’s theme, Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities, reminds us that even wild birds rely on the places we call home. In 2014, our founder Che began his conservation journey as a Kupu intern on Maui, working with the ʻUaʻu Kani (Wedge-tailed Shearwaters). These incredible seabirds can dive 200 feet and sleep while flying—but when they nest in burrows on the beach, they’re vulnerable to human and invasive species impact. Many community members once mistook their burrows for rat and mongoose holes, collapsing them or filling them with trash. But with education came transformation—people were excited to protect these native birds once they learned the truth. 🌍 You cannot protect what you do not know exists, so education leads to protection.
