On Monday night, our first-ever Culinary Queen Award was presented to a chef who has shaped the culinary world with her talent, creativity, and vision, and who continues to inspire us with her passion decades into her career. Someone who reigns supreme in the kitchen and in our hearts: @nancysilverton, chef/co-owner of the Mozza Restaurant Group in L.A. 👑⁠ ⁠ Nancy first came to the culinary world’s attention thanks to her love of sourdough, decades before folks were tending to starters in their kitchens. As the co-founder of @labreabakery, she proved that Californians do love carbs and she even made a brioche tart that was so delicious, it made Julia Child cry on TV. ⁠ ⁠ Next came the Mozza empire, which has expanded from its bustling corner in LA. to Washington, D.C., and Singapore. It’s always special to walk into @osteriamozza and spot Nancy behind the mozzarella bar, head down, dressed in her beloved Italian fashion designers. She’s won Beards, Michelin stars, and other awards, but on those nights, Nancy isn’t the celebrated boss; she’s a Mozza team member working a busy dinner service. ⁠ ⁠ Nancy’s career is a masterclass in focus, flavor, and setting trends, not following them. Whether she’s shaping dough or shaping the next generation of chefs, Nancy leads with generosity, grit, and a whole lot of style.
