Josh Burchick of Howard County Fire Rescue for his highly anticipated class. “In-Extremis Readiness” A presentation discussing the psychology, physiology, real-world data from real fire incidents, and basic tactics to get you out of the most common mayday situations. We discuss psychology and leadership theories affecting mental performance, the research supporting the physical prowess needed to overcome human performance variables on the fireground, we analyze real world metabolic data from firefighters in real rescues, maydays, and LODD events, and discuss basic tactics to get firefighters out of the top six common mayday situations.
