A look into our time with Ben Jaffe [ @pres_hall_ben ] , the Creative Director and musician in the institutional Preservation Hall Jazz Band [ @preshallband ]. @preservationhall was established in 1961 to protect, preserve, and honor traditional New Orleans jazz. Since his parents founded and managed the venue, Ben grew up around musicians and took in their style: “Their clothes were cared for and were lived in. Like when you put on an old jacket and the arm bends in just the right place - it gives me gratitude.” Spending time in the Big Easy was our perfect opportunity to tour his home and studio space, where we learned the history of Ben’s neighborhood and home, and bonded over kismet musical moments that connect us right back to our home of the Shoals. “I can see Ben’s genuine connection with people and his city in the way he styles a look.
