Alcinoo, Gae Aulenti Fifty years after its original design, Alcinoo returns: an exploration of form shaped by the dialogue between glass and metal. Created using the same mouth-blown technique as Patroclo, it features a rigid metal framework that contains and contrasts a fluid glass volume. The cylindrical base opens into a free-form sphere, each piece unique, hand-shaped by skilled artisans. Light filters through the cage, softened and fragmented, casting quiet shadows across the surface. Alcinoo is not just illuminated: it is revealed through the tension of structure and spontaneity.
