If you’re in southcentral AK, head to the hills to collect! It’s a bit too late in town. Lower 48–save this for next year 🥰 once the buds bloom, they can’t be used for their resin. I LOVE having an infused cottonwood oil on hand and think you should too. The resin is amazing for break outs, rashes, inflamed and achy joints, and works like a charm to encourage gunk out when you’re down with a respiratory bug. It also has the most earthy and grounding scent—which you’ll either love or hate 🤠 Once you’ve collected half a jar full (whatever jar you want) dump the buds out onto parchment paper and let them air dry a few days. After they’ve dried grab olive oil from your cabinet, cover the buds with the oil, and let them sit for 4-6 months. Label your jar and check on it every once in a while to ensure it’s still fully covered with oil. A gift to future you 🥰 Once you’ve infused the resin into an oil you can easily create a salve too.
