Suspense was in session. As part of his five-part Alfred Hitchcock lecture series, director Guillermo del Toro, recently elected to the Academy Museum Board of Trustees, delivered an in-depth lecture on NOTORIOUS (1946) before a screening of the quintessential spy thriller from the Master of Suspense. Before the series, del Toro spent time at the Margaret Herrick Library exploring Alfred Hitchcock's papers as he prepared for each lecture. The key from NOTORIOUS and other archival materials featured that evening came directly from the Academy Collection. If you've ever wanted to dive into film history yourself, the Margaret Herrick Library is open to everyone. Academy Collection preservation and archival projects are made possible by major support from The Film Foundation, Bronni Jo Stein, and The Ahmanson Foundation.
