As part of our handloomed summer capsule, we are excited to feature a new Commuter Shirt in a beautiful deep navy microcheck. We typically run our Commuter Shirts in lightweight striped poplins to match the look and feel of the updated office shirt that it's designed after, but for this release we tried something new and gave the body something that is equally lightweight and flowy but with some more texture. It's important to note that when we say handloomed, we refer to fabric being woven by a single artisan on a wooden manual loom without the use of electricity. This fabric is referred to as "khadi" and represents any fabric loomed by hand in India; heavily promoted by Mahatma Gandhi as a means for self-sufficiency from British rule, khadi cloth is a point of national pride and is painstakingly made. The hand loomed method provides a unique hand and finish that is unmatched; if you have yet to experience one, this shirt is a great place to start.
