Just as Wooj was taking off – I got fired (fair enough, I did have a whole other company). We'd just moved into a new studio, hired a few people, felt like a real business... and had real overhead. Since I had a lot more time on my hands, I spent months working on the Arcas Lamp, and we launched it to... crickets. We sold so few of them that it felt like a waste of time, until I designed a new base for the Arcas shade - and turned it into the CS.01, a product less than half the price, but with all the same elegance of the original. It became our new bestseller and soon enough, we outgrew our little studio and it was time to move. But it was going to be a big risk.
