Proud of her Irish roots, Grace traced her heritage to her grandfather, John Henry Peter Kelly, a bricklayer from Newport, County Mayo, who immigrated to Philadelphia in 1887. In 1976, Grace bought his ancestral cottage and land in Ireland, planning to build a home there — a dream left unfulfilled after her passing in 1982.
