Today we honor St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the "Lily of the Mohawks" — a radiant witness of purity, perseverance, and deep love for Christ. Born in 1656 to a Mohawk chief and a Christian Algonquin mother, Kateri suffered greatly—losing her parents to smallpox, enduring disfigurement, and later facing rejection from her own people for embracing the Catholic faith. And yet, she never turned back. She walked miles each day just to attend Mass. She spent her life in quiet acts of penance and prayer. She gave her heart fully to Jesus, consecrating her virginity to Him in a time and place where such a life was nearly unheard of. She shows us that holiness blooms even in the harshest soil—and that a soul on fire for God cannot be hidden. St. Kateri, intercede for our young people.
