When the R34 GT-R debuted from 1999 to 2002, Nissan had perfected it into a high-tech halo car, but Active Red (AR2) remained one of its rarest colors, with only 122 produced. Japanese buyers overwhelmingly preferred Bayside Blue, White, and Black, while Nissan’s marketing reinforced blue as the signature “hero” color. Combined with red paint’s tendency to fade over time, few dealers ordered it.
