On the eve of her birthday, we sadly said goodbye to our beloved @mademewsellevonteese , a retired #DevonRex showgirl, Miss Serenade from the Stars. She came into our lives as an adult just a few weeks after @aleistervonteese passed in 2020. An incredibly affectionate kitty, she was a soothing balm for our broken hearts. Her hugs were legendary — she’d fix you with a fierce-eyed look from the floor, signaling her ascent to your shoulder, where she’d nuzzle your neck and stay for as long as you’d let her. Our Sweet Miss adored the outdoors, basking in the sunshine, sniffing flowers, and scratching her claws on trees as she wandered through the garden. In the months since her illness was diagnosed, we treasured these moments, which always perked her up. We’d sit on the swing with her cuddled close, soaking in the quiet until dusk—moments she truly loved. Peanut butter chips and sneaky bites of baked treats were her forbidden delights, and sniffs of spicy sauces worked like catnip on her. She was my little travel companion — curious and sassy, always eager to explore a new hotel room. She had a dainty meow and a mighty purr, but don’t be fooled — she kept the boy cats in check with a swift strike of her glamourpaw, which was often gently lifted in her signature portrait poses. She’d flip-flop and sideways-sashay when I’d sing her name, and do a hippity hop “Circus Miss” prance when teased near her nose. She made elegant belly-up air-biscuits, and graciously tolerated my made-up theme song for her. She was truly beautiful — a sweet curly-haired ladycat, my little silver snow tigress with green eyes that remained as clear and luminous as ever. Her melodic chirps, her soft curls of fur and her little love-gulps are now held as a keepsake in our memories. She was a loving presence so dear to us, our hearts ache in ways words cannot express. Journey home to the stars, precious Serenade, our Sweet Miss. Thank you for the lovies you gave. To everyone who has loved and lost a cherished family member, or who now carries the weight of illness and grief, my heart is with you.
