This Vault workout hits you just right, in the best and worst way! A sneaky hard endurance distance coupled with the full body effort of a man maker makes for the perfect brutal combination in Fenghuang. For the 800m run, aim to complete this in under 5 minutes to allow enough time for the manmakers. Shorten the distance to accommodate that goal or perform and out and back run instead. Remember this is half the workout so while we want enough left in the tank to hit the remainder of the workout hard, we also don’t want you to play it safe. For the manmaker, choose a load that you can perform 3-5 reps in a row without requiring a break. Within the manmaker are 5 movements: pushup, renegade row right and left, a power clean, a front squat, and a press. Focus on making these reps mechanically sound and choosing a more conservative load to account for the time under tension you will experience. A great bonus goal for this workout is to set a deviation time for part 2 when you perform it in reverse. See if you can set a goal to get as close to the same time with no more than a 1 minute deviation.
