repost from @extinctanimalsfacts A New Raptor Species Unearthed in Mongolia: Shri rapax Palaeontologists have uncovered a new species of dromaeosaurid dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous Djadokhta Formation of Mongolia. Named Shri rapax, this exquisitely preserved specimen belongs to Dromaeosauridae - a clade of bird-like, predatory dinosaurs that includes well-known genera such as Velociraptor and Deinonychus. Shri rapax is a small but significant dromaeosaurid that offers insight into Mongolia’s Late Cretaceous ecosystems. Exceptionally well-preserved, with powerful grasping features and an oversized thumb claw, Shri may have been one of the most hand-focused predators of its kind.
