Soft, light, and luxurious cashmere is a fibre sourced from Changthangi goats and named after the Himalayan region of Kashmir. The goats thrive in the high mountain ranges, where the extreme temperatures are essential to high-quality fibre production. The Changthangi mountain goat is one of the few animals adapted to these harsh conditions, enabling it to produce the finest and strongest hair of any species. In 2005, the Aid by Trade Foundation established the Good Cashmere Standard to enhance sustainability and animal welfare in cashmere production while supporting herders and communities in Inner Mongolia.
