PRETTY IN PEACHY PINK: Amy Balfour's decorative home. A few months ago, decorative painter Amy Balfour used an analysis service to work out what colour clothes most suit her. The verdict? Soft autumn. It makes sense, for hers is a world of rusty reds, mustard yellows, gingers, clay pinks, olives and teals – colours with a punch but also an understated earthy richness. “I like warm colours,” says the East Sussex-based artist, who has become known for her beautiful hand-painted creations – everything from intricately decorated dolls’ houses to Charleston Farmhouse–inspired mirrors and lamps. Unsurprisingly, this inviting palette also sits at the heart of the 15th-century Wealden hall house, a vernacular medieval timber-framed hall house traditional in southeast England... Take a peek into Amy's house in Issue 124, Rural, in an edited extract from New English Interiors: At Home with Today’s Creatives, Elizabeth Metcalfe, Frances Lincoln, 2024, £28 - @amyfitzgeorgebalfour - #SelvedgeMagazine #AmyBalfour #PaintedInteriors #PatternDesign #InteriorDesign #RuralHomes #Interiors #HomeDesign #HandPainted #DesignDetails #HomeDesignDetails #InspirationalInteriors #AtHomeWith #DecorativeHomes #Textiles #EclecticDesign #HomeDecor
