Injiri. Named after the historic Madras checkered textiles once traded with West Africa, Injiri is a brand rooted deeply in India’s rich hand-weaving heritage. Founded in 2009 by Chinar Farooqui, Injiri celebrates the beauty of handcrafted textiles and sustainable material use — creating timeless clothing for women and home textiles that tell stories of tradition and craft. The brand’s aesthetic is built around simplicity and respect for age-old techniques, working closely with master weavers across India to preserve unique regional textile vocabularies. Every piece reflects a journey — from yarn to finished fabric — honouring the living heritage of Indian craftsmanship. Inspired by antique textiles and everyday garments, Injiri’s designs reject fleeting trends, focusing instead on slow, thoughtful creation. The result? Award-winning, globally loved pieces that embody authenticity, sustainability, and storytelling. Chinar’s upbringing in Rajasthan, along with her education in fine arts and textile design, has fuelled a lifelong passion for indigenous crafts — leading to initiatives that revive ancient dyeing techniques and form lasting relationships with weaving communities. As part of London Textile Month, Injiri will be featured at the Selvedge Designer Showroom, 17–19 September, at Asia House, London. Spanning three days, the showroom will first open its doors to buyers from leading stores and boutiques, offering a private opportunity to explore and place orders for their Spring/Summer 2026 collections. On the final day, fashion enthusiasts and Selvedge readers are invited to meet the designers, place orders, and even shop select pieces ahead of their store debuts.
