Once hidden beneath layers of skirts, these pockets carried coins, letters, spectacles, sewing kits, and personal treasures — tiny private worlds stitched into everyday life. By the time of the Suffragettes, they had become symbols of independence, self-expression, and quiet defiance. In this full-day workshop, explore that legacy and hand-stitch your own inspired pocket. Work with vintage fabrics, embroidery threads, beads, trims, and up-cycled materials. Learn techniques from appliqué and couching to beading - guided at every step. As you sew, you’ll connect with stories of memory, resilience, and identity — experiencing how something as small as a pocket can hold meaning across generations.
