When she was 12 years old, Seattle Storm forward @gabbywilliams got her first tattoo. Her older sister Kayla got inked with a Japanese character, and in an attempt to seem equally cool and edgy, Williams got the same one. Of course, unlike her sister’s tat, Williams’ was just airbrushed—and even though it eventually washed off, it was a moment that would ultimately help shape her identity both on and off the basketball court. The tattoos she’s now known for (so many she’s lost count) tell stories as dynamic and multifaceted as her game. And now is certainly the time to take notice of Williams’ game: Just last week, she became the first player in Storm franchise history to record four steals in three consecutive games, while leading the league in steals and multi-steal games. She also recorded her first career double-double in points and rebounds, a dominant force on all sides of the ball. Head coach Noelle Quinn has dubbed her the “French army knife” who can do it all. “I’ve always just kind of played how I wanted to play,” she says. She thinks of her game and her body art in the same unique way. “I know I’ve always been a player that people couldn’t really put into a box.” At the link in bio, WH caught up with the WNBA star to break down the body art that has stuck with her through every milestone moment. 🖇️ 📷: @seattlestorm
