Effortless speed. That might sound like an oxymoron, but watching the road team fly past on the track, their breathing is rhythmic, their stride smooth, there’s no better description. They’re not reaching for their paces, or letting their form breakdown with fatigue. To the casual observer, it might look like it’s easy, but it’s excellence that makes it seem effortless. There’s definitely nothing easy about splitting 4:52 for a mile at the end of a 5-mile tempo, or hitting kilometer repeats at sub 4:30 per mile / 2:45 per kilometer pace!
