Some parts of the race still had that short-course instinct – pushing at the front, maybe a little too much, a little too early. In the moment, not really thinking about what was still to come. But finishing strong, on the podium and most of all: finishing healthy – that felt like a win of its own. “I couldn’t quite keep up with Lasse Priester on the run – but considering my heel surgery was almost exactly a year ago, and the fact that he’s a strong runner, I’d say that result is more than fair.” Running a strong half marathon just one year post-surgery?
