In the mid 80s, surf travel was happening but to a much lesser extent than today’s standards. Places were still being shared in secret by the few who searched for empty waves. One spot that became a media darling because of its close proximity to Southern California was Isla Natividad. You could say it was one of the first organized surf camps besides Tavarua Island. The always offshore winds and cold water made it highly recognizable as it was in almost every issue of Surfer or Surfing Mag for a decade. Today, you’d be hard pressed to find an image from there in the past 15 years. Enjoy this 80s nostalgia from the first Rusty video, “Just Surfing.” #rustysurfboards #surfing #surfboard #surfboards #customsurfboards #sandiego #surftrip #islanatividad #1980s
