‘Faenwyth ’ ✿ 45.5 x 61cm Original and prints available Notes on: familiar places A few years back, with stupidly messy hands in a very warm workshop, I made a quick brushstroke. There was born my obsession with waterfalls. And so it began, my real spiral into all things flow, movement, softness. I’ve pushed and pulled and always find myself returning back to middle ground, my own familiar place of ‘the flow’ (literally and the state of mind). These things won’t stop coming out. Shoutout to my Liquitex brush, of which I am now on numero 3 for the most crisp lines. When making or pursuing something new, it’s as if the familiarity finds us even when we aren’t actively seeking it. It’s always just slightly inside us and comes out in quick moments. An unexplainable glint of ‘that’s me’ or ‘that could be a bit of me???’. For me, this painting is exactly that…. A familiar nod to all the individual elements that have (often unconsciously) overflowed from me the past few years. I don’t always seek to see ‘myself’ (whatever that is) in paintings, but nevertheless always want to find something old and familiar🤍
