Raw Mango is now in Kolkata. Housed in an early 20th-century Art Deco building, the store’s architecture resonates deeply with the brand’s sensibilities. The building’s unique imperfections have been woven into the retail space, focusing the renovation process on preserving legacy rather than replacing it. The colour and material used in the store emerged from the building itself – its floors, walls, and structure. The crooked angles of the house, the hard-earned patina: each “imperfection” offered possibilities to build a space that feels rooted in slowness and permanence. We approached the space as an intersection between retail, gallery and the spirit of adda (আড্ডা), in the truest Bengali sense. It is a place where conversations begin and different minds meet. It is a place to explore garments and open-ended questions alike. Much like the city of Kolkata, Raw Mango does not announce itself grandly, but it also does not shy away from dialogue and reflection.
